Department of Respiratory Disease

  Founded in 1978, Department of Respiration of Third Military Medical University is China¨s national key discipline as well as a national clinical and pharmaceutical base. We have been authorized to bring up postgraduate for master degree, after that 12 students have been graduated from our department.  The Department has accommodation for 90 patients, equipped with all the necessary facilities, such as Bronchoscope Room, Pulmonary Function Test Room, blood-gas Analysis Room and RICU. The healing rate of the patients in our department reaches 96%. We boasts an outstanding team of 15 doctors with skilled clinical and research experience, including 2 professors, 3 associate professors, and 4 attending physicians, among whom seven have been awarded Ph. D. degree and are members of influential local and national academic societies. The department has undertaken 2 projects of the National Natural Science Funds, 10-odd municipal and university Funds. Over the past five years, the staff has published about 100 scientific articles and 10 medical monographs, and has been granted 500,000 RMB research fund, two second-prize Awards of Military Medical Science and Technology Progress, three third-prize Awards of Military Medical Science and Technology Progress and a national patent.
  With consistent effort of the faculty, we enjoyed academic advantages and unique features in diagnosis and treatment in respiratory disease, which endows itself with high esteem in Chongqing. We have conducted over 10,000 bronchoscope examinations and 2000 examinations adopting more than 10 advanced technologies in diagnosis and treatment. In particular, we are famous for diffuse intersticial lung disease treatment, the COPD treatment and related basic research, and promote lung cancer treatment. We are playing a leading role in the application of ultrasound minimally invasive technology in the treatment of respiratory diseases. We have made contributions in the development of multi-treatment of respiratory diseases, such as APC treatment for bronchial lumen cancer, electrocoagulation, BAE treatment for massive haemoptysis and BAI chemotherapy for advanced lung cancer, percutaneous puncture lung biopsy, and Video Thoracoscope lung biopsy for diffuse inflammatory lung diseases.
