The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Daping Hospital & Institute of Surgery Affiliated to Third Military Medical University was founded in 1982. At the beginning, there were only two beds,  which have been extended to 9 in 1995 and 41 in 2007, and it has become the central ICU ranking at the top in all the ICUs of PLA and the second in all the ICUs in China in terms of scale. The endemic area of ICU which totaled more than 3000 square meters is equipped with advanced lamina flow wards, with 3 wards in 10,000-degree lamina flow, 1 ward in negative pressure lamina flow, and the rest in 100,000-degree lamina flow, which contribute to the purity of the air. The ICU of Daping Hospital is one of the most advanced ICUs in China in terms of equipment and personnel allocations. The ICU of Daping Hospital has been equipped with international first-class centralized control system, advanced central monitoring, life support and emergency rescuing system thus enabling timely and effective 24h continuous monitoring for patients with emergent, critical and severe disorders such as severe injury, high risks following major operations, acute or chronic respiratory failure, shock from all reasons, severe pancreatitis, acute myocardial infarction, poisoning, cardiopulmonary-cerebral resuscitation (CPCR) etc. The high quality ICU medical staff and the advanced monitoring and treatment equipment as well as the excellent medical skills of the medical staff have paved the way for the emergency treatment of high risk critical cases.
