The Department of Blood Transfusion was established as as an independent department in 1994 to meet the increasingly large and complex transfusion needs. There are 18 technicians, including one professor, one associate professor and one associate senior technician, working cooperatively as a team. Besides Blood Bank and Blood Matching Room established at the first beginning, Serological Reference Lab, HIV screening and TTD Detection Lab,Cell Seperation Room and Blood Therapeutic Room have been established gradually.
Our department is equipped to a high standard and provide a comprehensive range of clinical services including transfusion compatibility tests, HIV Screening and P24 antigen, prenatal antibody titration, serological examination of HDN, etc. Especially the Blood Therapeutic Room applies Germany¨s Fresenius blood cell separater to perform peripheral stem cell collection.
Routine and emergency work is performed by fully qualified technicians supported by medical laboratory assistants who staff the Department on a 24 hour basis. The department has reached an advanced level among all the domestic military hospitals in this discipline. There are more than 80 articles published within the past decade, three of which are collected by foreign SCI.
